Fundraiser gala for veterans
JAFFREY — A gala will be held Saturday to benefit Warrior Camp, an equine therapy program at Temple’s Touchstone Farm that assists veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Warrior Camp is a week-long clinical program designed to treat combat stress among veterans and active service members, using equine-assisted psychotherapy, in addition to other trauma treatments.
Warrior Camp is part of Trauma and Resiliency Resources, Inc., a New-York based nonprofit. Trauma and Resiliency Resources leases Touchstone Farm to hold its Warrior Camps, the first of which was held in 2013, with an additional two camps held so far in 2014. Veterans travel from all over the country to attend the intensive camp, which in addition to equine therapy also incorporates EMDR, or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and yoga.
The gala, which will be held in the cathedral ballroom at the Shattuck Golf Club on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. will raise funds to allow more veterans to attend Warrior Camp sessions.
The evening will include a cocktail hour, live music including The Bruce Marshall Band, dinner, silent auction and guest speakers. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.
