Joseph Rogers of Dublin, a member of the 2013-14 men’s swimming and diving team at Alfred University, was named to the academic All-American team.

Rogers, who will be a senior for the Saxons next season, was named an honorable mention Scholar All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. He was honored for the spring 2014 semester.

CSCAA Scholar All-Americans earn honors based on their performance both in the pool and in the classroom. First Team Scholar All-Americans must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and qualify automatically to participate in the NCAA championship meet. Honorable mention selections must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and earn provisional “B” NCAA qualifying times.

Rogers earned a “B” qualifying cut time as part of the Saxons’ 800-yard freestyle relay team, which set a new school record of 6:47.09 at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association/Empire 8 Conference championships Feb. 20.
