Celebrate the world of Roald Dahl, July 31
The Mariposa Museum will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and other Dahl books and poems on the grounds of the historic Lake Falls Lodge property in Stoddard on July 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Attendees will be served from a menu of Dahl’s Revolting Recipes as well as other elegant drinks and appetizers. All will be encouraged to sing and dance with Oompa Loompas, participate in ‘station’ activities and generally feel like a child again. Bringing children or grandchildren along is highly encouraged.
Guests will receive a library card to be stamped as they begin their tour of ‘activity stations’ around the property, which are all dedicated to Dahl’s creations: Miss Honey’s cottage from Matilda; The Angry Crocodile in the pond; The Giant Peach peach tree; The Witches meeting place of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; and ending at The Wonka Factory.
Those who have their card stamped from all stations will receive a Golden Ticket for free admission to the “World of Chocolate” exhibition opening at the Mariposa on Aug. 1.
Proceeds from this event will help support the educational programs at the Mariposa and its new exhibition “World of Chocolate.”
Tickets are $50 for adults and $10 for children and can be reserved in advance at www.mariposamuseum.org.
This event is produced in partnership with MoCo Arts and the Roald Dahl Literary Estate, and is sponsored by RBC Wealth Management.
