Police Log: Jaffrey — Nov. 6, 2012
Tuesday, Oct. 23
Arrest: At 8:26 p.m., police received a report of a verbal dispute between a mother and son at a residence at Forest Park. Barbara Bennett, 52, of Jaffrey was arrested and charged with simple assault and resisting arrest. She was released on $2,500 personal recognizance with a Dec. 6 court date at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey.
Wednesday, Oct. 24
Theft: At 9:15 a.m., police received a report of theft from a Jaffrey resident, who told police that the battery to a lawn mower at the Jaffrey Civic Center on Main Street had been stolen. The lawn mower was parked in a shed on the property at the time of the alleged theft, according to police. The case is under investigation.
Accident: At 6:50 p.m., police responded to a single-car crash on Route 202 near Old Sharon Road. John Sheridan, 45, of Temple was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup truck on Route 202 when a deer ran out in front of him, he told police. The deer was killed on impact, according to police. The car sustained minor damage, including a broken fuel pump switch, and it had to be towed. Sheridan was uninjured.
Thursday, Oct. 25
Untimely death: At 5:45 a.m., police responded to a residence on Lacy Road for a report of a 58-year-old male, who was unconscious and not breathing. Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance personnel also responded to the scene. Andrew Hackler, 58, of Jaffrey was pronounced dead as a result of medical complications.
Must appear: At 6:40 p.m., police served Kyle Lawn, 19, of Jaffrey with a must appear summons at his residence for overtaking a school bus when it had its stop sign out and red lights on. Lawn is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 6.
Saturday, Oct. 27
Arrest: At 12:08 a.m., police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Squantum Road for speed, but the pursuit continued onto Annett Road before the driver pulled over, police said. The driver, Derrik Hanson, 25, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with disobeying an officer, DWI and transportation of alcohol. He was released on $1,500 personal recognizance with a Dec. 6 court date. His two passengers, Cody Carlson, 24, of Peterborough and Robert Gillbo, 24, of Peterborough, were arrested and taken into protective custody for their intoxication. Hanson, Carlson and Gillbo were released to a friend, according to police.
