Minor injuries in crash Monday

A two-car crash on Lehtinen Road in Jaffrey on Monday resulted in a Troy resident being transported to Monadnock Community Hospital with shoulder pain.

Darryl Lady, 39, of Troy was driving a 1996 Toyota Tacoma west on Lehtinen Road when the left side of his car collided with a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Victor Bruno, 23, of Jaffrey.

Bruno, who was traveling east on Lehtinen Road, told police he was riding the center line when he came to a hillcrest in the roadway and saw Lady in the oncoming lane. Neither car was able to swerve in time to avoid a collision, the two drivers told police.

Police said there is no yellow center line on Lehtinen Road to divide the east and west lanes. Although roads in town were wet Monday morning due to rain from Hurricane Sandy, police said neither road conditions, speed or vehicle mechanics appeared to be factors in the crash.

While Bruno was uninjured, police said Lady suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance to MCH for treatment.

Lady’s car sustained moderate damage to the entire left side, while Bruno’s car had noticeable damage to its left-front corner, police said.
