In honor of Veterans Day, Francetown’s
Patriotic Purposes Committee — made up of Scott Carbee, Pauly Freese and Betsy
Wiederhold — orchestrated a parade through the center of town, and the town Fire and Auxiliary put on a reception at the former Masonic Lodge after that offered soup, sandwiches and sweets.
Residents packed into the Lodge to sit with
veterans and spilled outside onto the front lawn to enjoy an uncommonly warm November afternoon. At the ceremony, attendees recited the Pledge of
Allegiance and listened to poems read and taps played by Lya Seppenian of Temple, a member of ConVal high school’s band.
