Peterborough holiday tree lighting with Santa, Sunday

The annual holiday tree lighting event is planned for Sunday, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., beginning at the Peterborough Historical Society.

Actors’ Circle Theatre performers will lead the caroling, the South Meadow School Dance Team will perform the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” from Tchaikowsky’s “Nutcracker,” and cookies and hot cocoa will be served, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Santa will arrive by firetruck at 5:20 p.m. to visit with children. The tree in Putnam Park will be lit at 6 p.m.

Food or monetary donations for the Peterborough Food Pantry will be accepted at the event.

Admission and parking is free, and the event is handicapped accessible.

The event is sponsored by the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Peterborough and Peterborough Fire & Rescue.
