Jaffrey’s Meals-On-Wheels receives grant from Bishop’s Fund
Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services has received a $5,000 grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund to support the Meals-On-Wheels program in Jaffrey. The program, which has been providing a daily hot meal to homebound senior citizens and individuals with disabilities for 40 years, recently came under the umbrella of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services. Volunteers continue to deliver the meals and provide a critical daily safety check on the well-being of those who receive the service.
The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund will help to underwrite the cost of the food so that the program can continue to be offered on a donation basis to elderly participants.
The assistance fund makes grants to tax-exempt organizations without regard to religious affiliation for projects that help people in New Hampshire meet their basic needs. The fund is operated by volunteer lay men and women who serve as directors and who make recommendations to the Bishop of Manchester for grants to any organization in New Hampshire whose mission is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Fund raises money through solicitation of individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations.
