Obituary: Barbara Strawbridge

HANCOCK — Barbara Strawbridge died on December 26, 2012 at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH after a sudden illness.

She was born in Lawrence, MA on August 25, 1930, the daughter of Jack Smith and Margaret Rogers Smith.

She moved to Hancock after living a number of years in Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia. She was very involved in the community of Hancock, participating in various organizations and town functions. She would participate in the farmer’s market each week where she displayed her art, note cards and clay figurines. She was an avid painter with water colors as her primary passion. Barbara was very socially active and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She an active member of the Bennington Congregational Church.

Barbara is survived by her son David Russell of Weare, NH, her daughter Denise Russell of TN, her brother Robert Smith of Toronto, Canada, and 2 grandchildren: Christopher and Bobby.

A graveside committal service will be held at the Norway Plain Cemetery in Hancock, NH on June 22, 2012 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bennington Congregational Church, 5 Main Street, Bennington, NH 03442.

Jellison Funeral Home, Peterborough, New Hampshire, is assisting the family.
