Tuesday, Jan. 1

Open container: At 4:35 p.m., police gave a warning to a visitor at Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride for having an open container of beer in the ski area parking lot.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

Theft investigation: At 9:45 a.m., police began an investigation of an alleged theft that resulted in a suspicious fire near a business on Greenfield Road. Representatives of the business reported a chair had been stolen and later found behind the business on fire. Tuesday, Bennington Police Chief Steve Campbell said no footprints were found at the scene and no damage was done to the building or the overhang near the chair. Campbell said police will not be pursuing the matter further.

Thursday, Jan. 3

Theft: At 10 p.m., police responded to a report of theft of a snowboard, allegedly taken from Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride.

Friday, Jan. 4

Arrest: At 5:40 p.m., after observing a motor vehicle violation and an accident, police arrested Jeremy Blanchette, 24, of Peterborough, charging him with a DWI. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance, pending a Jan. 17 court date in Hillsborough’s 6th Circuit Court.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Open container: At 6:40 p.m., police gave a warning to three individuals at Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride for having an open container of alcohol in the ski area parking lot.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Arrest: At 11:05 p.m., police arrested Jeremy Piotrowski, 23, of Manchester and charged him with illegal possession of a controlled drug, believed to be marijuana. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance, pending a Feb. 14 court date in Hillsborough’s 6th Circuit Court.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Arrest: At 1 p.m., police arrested Robert Cyr, 19, of Bennington and charged him with trespassing at the transfer station. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance, pending a Feb. 14 court date at Hillsborough’s 6th Circuit Court.

Monday, Jan. 7

Theft: At 12 p.m., police responded to a report of theft of three snowboards, allegedly taken from Crotched Mountain Ski and Ride.

Monday, Jan. 7

Arrest: At 5:30 p.m., police arrested Haleigh Chicoine, 22, of Bennington on a warrant issued by Hillsborough County Superior Court in Manchester for failure to answer to a subpoena. She was held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections without bail pending a court hearing.
