WLC boys win 2nd game
Coming off a big loss the last time they took the court, the Wilton-Lyndeborough boys basketball team was in need of a boost.
And the Warriors got that with a 59-34 victory over Nute on Tuesday. It was their second win of the season, while the Rams remained the only winless team in Division IV.
“I expected it to be a close game,” said coach Ken Garnham. “We’re not exactly a powerhouse.”
With 22 points in the first and 18 more in the second, WLC took its biggest halftime lead of the season, 40-15.
“We played very strong in both quarters,” said Garnham.
The 59 points scored was the second highest output of the season, trailing only the 62 points in the team’s first win over Hinsdale on Jan. 22.
“We needed something like this to get some momentum,” said Garnham.
Sophomore Kyle Pratt led the way with 14 points, followed by senior Ethan Howard’s 12. Junior Pat Martin scored nine and senior Casey Melrose added seven.
WLC is now 2-12 entering Friday’s contest with Derryfield.
