Jaffrey rollover leaves driver uninjured

JAFFREY — Slippery conditions are the apparent cause of a rollover on Peterborough Street on Sunday night that left the driver uninjured.

On Sunday at about 6 p.m., Thomas Devarney, 26, of Jaffrey was driving north on Peterborough Street near Old Sharon Road when his tires lost traction and his vehicle slid off the road. His car, a 1989 Toyota pick-up truck, hit the guardrail on the side of the road, causing the truck to roll over. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Devarney was uninjured in the accident, according to Police Chief William Oswalt, and was not transported to the hospital. Oswalt did not have any information on whether Devarney was wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident. Devarney’s truck sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Gauthier Auto Service in Jaffrey.

Police have deemed the winter weather conditions the cause of the accident, said Oswalt. Speed is not being considered a factor.
