Letter: Proctor endorsed for Greenville selectman - March 5, 2013
To the editor:
I heartily endorse the candidacy of Leon Proctor for selectman of Greenville. I have known Leon for many years and have seen his passion for things he believes in. Mr. Proctor cares for the town of Greenville and its citizens. He was very instrumental in getting the new waterline system down Route 31. This initiative added new users on the system and provides additional revenue for the Water Department. His leadership and dedication was of great value during this time.
Leon has the same passion when he is working with the veterans, having held many offices within the American veterans organization. This culminated with his becoming the state commander for the organization.
This same drive that he has will be brought with him should he become selectman and the town of Greenville will definitely benefit from this. He also has attended numerous selectman meetings over the years. He is well versed on the issues the town is facing currently and in the future.
Leon believes in not spending beyond our means and also will do everything he can do to keep the taxes down. Mr. Proctor also believes that everyone should pay their fair share of taxes and is willing to work with people and to accomplish this. He does listen to the people whether he agrees with them or not. He is objective and accountable to all.
On another note, I feel it is inexcusable for ‘whomever’ took Mr. Proctor’s campaign signs. It was ironic that none of his competitors’ or school board signs were not removed from the same locations. Mr. Proctor is a veteran and fought for American citizens to have the right to vote and for the freedom we all enjoy. I find it very disheartening that a person or a small group thought so little of our town’s election process and our citizens.
