Guns, drugs seized in Bennington
Police seized two firearms and pills from a convicted felon’s vehicle, following a stop for speed on Route 202 last week.
At 9:30 p.m. Friday, Police Chief Steve Campbell made a motor vehicle stop on Route 202 for a car traveling over the speed limit. Upon running license and registration checks, Campbell discovered that Michael Stickney, 28, of Newport, was operating his vehicle under a suspended license. Campbell also discovered that Stickney is a convicted felon.
Stickney was arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of deadly weapons, driving after suspension and possession of a controlled drug.
Stickney was held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A March 4 hearing at Hillsborough’s 6th Circuit Court resulted in bail being raised to $10,000. Stickney was transported back to the jail and awaits a probable cause hearing on March 14.
