CV’s Rapposelli closes out successful season

ConVal freshman Maura Rapposelli closed out her first alpine skiing season on Wednesday with a trip to Cannon Mountain for Meet of Champions.

Rapposelli was ConVal’s first female skier to qualify for the state meet since Lindsay Eneguess did so in 2007.

On Wednesday, Rapposelli finished 25th overall in the slalom out of 46 skiers and 37th in the giant slalom.

She posted times of 46.64 and 47.84 seconds in the slalom and was eighth overall from Division II. In the giant slalom, Rapposelli had runs of 36.66 and 36.71 seconds.

In order to qualify for Meet of Champions, Rapposelli had to finish among the top 10 in either discipline at the Division II Championships on Feb. 14 at King Pine Ski Area.

She finished ninth in the slalom less than one second ahead of 11th place finisher Risa Mosenthal of Plymouth.

During the regular season, Rapposelli won three races, including the season opener.
