Murder mystery spoof stages this weekend in Milford

The Milford Area Players will present “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” this weekend and next at the Amato Center for the Performing Arts.

The play by John Bishop, which ran both on and off Broadway, pokes antic fun at the more ridiculous aspects of “show biz” and the corny thrillers of Hollywood’s heyday.

The show will be staged Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Performances will repeat March 22-23 at 8 p.m. and March 24 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors (60-plus) and students. Tickets are available at the Toadstool Bookshop, Milford, online at, and at the door.

The Milford Area Players is the winner of the 2008 and 2011 New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Production in Drama/Comedy for Community Theatre.
