Letter: Music festival thankful for support
To the editor:
I’m writing today to thank a number of area businesses and people for their sponsorship and help in making this year’s Thing in the Spring possible. For those who aren’t aware, The Thing in the Spring is an annual music and arts festival that has been happening annually in downtown Peterborough for the past five years.
This year’s festivities will take place June 6 through June 9. Without these businesses’ support, it wouldn’t be possible. We would like to thank The Mountain Corporation, Waterhouse Restaurant, Toadstool Bookshops, Brewbakers of Keene, Sterling Business Printing, Jack Daniels Motor Inn, Grove & Main, Joseph’s Coat, Harlow’s Pub, Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, Peterborough Shoe Store, Mariposa Museum, Peterborough Town Hall, Cy Gregg, Stan Fry, Pelagia Vincent, James Callahan, Jamie Trowbridge, Willard Williams and Dave Szehi.
The Thing in the Spring is growing, and so far has brought thousands of people to Peterborough. It, and it’s cornerstone, Broke: The Affordable Arts Fair, help to make this a viable arts community, bringing young families to the area, and keeping others from leaving. It’s reassuring that we are able to garner so much support from forward-thinking businesses that understand that this is how we bolster our economy, raise enrollment in our schools, and maintain our own unique cultural identity.
