Rindge’s FPU appoints dean for graduate, professional studies

The Provost’s Office at Franklin Pierce University and the Dean Search Committee of the University’s College of Graduate & Professional Studies announce the appointment of Dr. Douglas Southard to the position of Dean of College of Graduate & Professional Studies effective July 1. Southard will take on his new role as the interim dean, Lynne Rosansky, completes her responsibilities.

Southard, a Bradford resident, is currently the director of Franklin Pierce University’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies program. “Doug’s candidacy received strong support from all who participated in the interview process, and I am delighted he will step into this important leadership position,” says Provost Kim Mooney.

Prior to his service at Franklin Pierce, Southard was the dean of the School of Health Sciences at Saint Francis University and the provost/dean for Academic Affairs at Jefferson College of Health Sciences.

He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech, a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University, and is a Fellow and past president of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
