3-alarm fire at NE Forest Products

GREENFIELD - A three-alarm fire on Sawmill Road on Wednesday night had multiple fire crews from the area gathered at the scene of New England Forest Products, where the blaze did significant damage to one of the business' buildings.

The fire broke out at New England Forest Products early Wednesday evening. By 9 p.m., crews had extinguished the flames.

Fire crews were unable to comment on the cause of the fire at the scene Wednesday, as tankers and ladder trucks from multiple towns lingered to prevent flare ups and wet down surrounding foliage. Francestown Fire Chief Larry Kullgren said at the scene Wednesday that the cause was still under investigation, and directed comments to Greenfield Fire Chief Loren White.

Representatives from Peterborough Ambulance Service confirmed that they did not have to treat or transport anyone as a result of the fire.
