Support for Ayotte on guns
To to editor:
A lot has been said lately about gun control pro and con. I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. I may not always carry one, but I have it because I cleared all the proper checks that are in place. A criminal, however, would not. It hits close to home that I have a daughter that’s a teacher in rural Virginia. So I’m not taking the concerns lightly. But the truth of the matter is, it does not matter how many feel-good laws we pass, sadly we can’t prevent another tragedy until we cure people. The one thing all the mass shootings have in common is someone knew these people needed mental help and turned a blind eye to it. If that was my child, I would get the help they needed, even if it broke me to do it. Sad but true that they didn’t.
Booze and cigarettes kill more people per year than all gun violence combined, yet that doesn’t seem to alarm anyone. A gun can sit in the corner for a hundred years and never go off, until someone picks it up and fires it. Kelly ayotte did the right thing. She has my vote, again.
