Warriors win two thrillers
Martin, Seeley toss complete games
The Wilton-Lyndeborough baseball team got over .500 for the first time since late April with a pair of low-scoring wins to end last week.
The Warriors defeated Epping 3-2 on Friday, just two days after downing Sunapee 3-1. Both wins avenged earlier losses.
After surrendering two runs on three hits in the first, freshman Christian Seeley settled down to strike out nine and allow just one more hit the rest of the way.
WLC got one back in the bottom of the first on a Pat Martin sacrifice fly. Brendan Hussey’s two-run double in the fourth plated the tying and eventual winning run. Hussey was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
On Wednesday, Martin struck out 11 and gave up just three hits to the Lakers, who scored their only run in the bottom of the seventh.
Hussey had two of the three WLC hits and both scored runs. Hussey had a two-run double in the second and an RBI single in the third for all three of the Warriors’ runs.
In the first meeting with Sunapee on April 17, WLC committed eight errors and lost 16-3.
It was the Warriors’ third win of the week by two runs or less after scoring five runs in the seventh inning to defeat Mascenic 5-4 last Monday.
