Five teams land in top five in divisions
The NHIAA released its baseball and softball postseason pairings on Tuesday.
Today, the No. 1 seeded Wilton-Lyndeborough softball team (13-3) begins its defense of the Division IV championship against No. 16 Groveton. The Warriors earned the top seed for the 11th straight year. Last year, WLC narrowly defeated the Eagles in the D-IV quarterfinal round at home.
After dropping the final two games of the regular season, the ConVal softball team (13-3) finished second in Division II and will host No. 15 Souhegan today. The Cougars won both regular season meetings with the Sabers, including a 3-1 decision in eight innings on May 17.
The ConVal and Conant baseball teams each earned the No. 5 seed in their respective tournaments. In Division II, ConVal (11-5) will host Sanborn today at 4 p.m. In two meetings last week with the Indians, the home team earned the win.
The D-III Orioles (12-4) will take on Gilford today at Humiston Field at 4 p.m.
Wilton-Lyndeborough baseball (9-7) secured the final home game in D-IV as the eighth seed and will take on Moultonboro today at 4 p.m.
As the fourth seed in Division III, Conant softball (14-2) will host the winner of Bishop Brady/Mascenic on Friday at 4 p.m. The Vikings (6-12) earned the final seed and traveled to Bishop Brady on Wednesday.
The Mascenic baseball team (7-11) lost 4-3 in its D-III first round game at Pelham Tuesday.
The quarterfinals will be played on Saturday at the home of the higher seed, except for D-III softball, which will be played on Monday.
