Jaffrey can help Peterborough arts
To the editor:
I was pleased to see the Ledger editorial board endorse the idea of including the Park Theatre in the Peterborough arts assessment. When the theater re-opens in Jaffrey (soon, I expect) it will be a valuable resource for the performing arts community and for local schools in the Monadnock region.
Among the large constituency of advocates for the theater are the Performing Partners. Organizations such as the Peterborough Players and Monadnock Music offer theatrical, musical and chorale performances. These artistic partners of the theater are looking forward to expanding their ability to offer quality entertainment in our community in a quality local venue.
The Peterborough Select Board would be well served to commission Webb Management Services to analyze the potential value of the Park Theatre in supporting the arts in Peterborough. Rather than invest in building new facilities in Peterborough, for which funding may be scarce and lead times long, it may make sense to more fully utilize existing resources present in Jaffrey. I’m confident the Park Theatre would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Duncan Webb in making our region more conducive to the arts.
