Police: Bat used in fight

A North Carolina man was sentenced to 45 days in the Cheshire County House of Corrections on Monday for allegedly striking his brother, a Jaffrey resident, with a baseball bat.

Terrance Gibson, 42, of Henderson, N.C., pled guilty to a misdemeanor-level charge of simple assault, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement, at a probable cause hearing at the 8th Circuit Court in Jaffrey on Monday. Gibson was arrested and charged by Jaffrey police on June 6 with second-degree assault, a felony.

According to police, Gibson assaulted his brother, David Gibson, 47, of Jaffrey, with a baseball bat, causing bruising and swelling to the victim. The two men were at a residence on Stratton Road at the time, police said.

David Gibson was arrested and charged with simple assault the same day for allegedly slamming a door and hitting a woman; he was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a July 11 arraignment.
