Social Security based on inequity
To the editor:
Ms. Kathleen Allen’s statement that there is a $2.73 trillion surplus in Social Security is misleading at best.
I would bet that no one could actually find an account with that kind of money in it. A quick trip into the Internet can find many alarming facts about how fast the available money is being used up as now many people who have never paid into the system are collecting.
A regular business would not survive very long and the only way this country will stay in good financial shape is that everyone pays in and the “freebies” need to be eliminated.
