Two artists’ work on display at library

New England Americana artwork by Lynn Forsyth of Greenfield is on exhibit in the Art Corner at the Peterborough Town Library in July.

The artist paints village scenes on barrel staves. She visits each village, photographing and researching its history. Using some artistic license, she paints panoramic views of the villages with acrylicson both canvas and staves.

Continuing the celebration of the birth of our nation, featured in the showcase is work by the late Fred Press, noted American painter, sculptor, designer and author, who resided and worked in Jaffrey. This award-winning artist’s works are in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Art and the Worcester (Mass.) Art Museum.

Press accepted a commission from the U.S. Navy to produce two bronze reliefs for the U.S. Naval Memorial, which are on display in Washington, D.C. In the showcase are his John Paul Jones reliefs and medallions of several of our forefathers in plaster and pewter.

Both exhibits are on view during library hours throughout July.
