Three climb Mount Washington auto road

Three local cyclists competed in Newton’s Revenge, a bike race up the Mount Washington Auto Road, on Saturday.

Jeremiah Ketola of Rindge finished 32nd out of 170 riders in a time of one hour, 17 minutes and 50 seconds.

Ezra Ketola of Rindge placed 54th overall in 1:23:58 and Bob Treadwell of Temple finished in 1:24:34 to take 57th.

The annual race takes riders on a 7.6-mile climb to the top of Mt. Washington.

Derek Treadwell of Topsham, Maine won the 2013 race in 58:14, just four seconds ahead of Eric Folke of Samford, Maine.

Thomas Danielson owns the course record, reaching the finish line in 49:24 in 2002.

The Mt. Washington Auto Road Hillclimb will be held Aug. 17.
