Keene IDOL begins this Saturday

The 10th annual Keene IDOL, a community showcase for local performers, will take place in the function room at McCue’s on five consecutive Saturdays: July 20, 27, Aug. 3, 10, and 17.

Twenty adult contestants will compete for a top prize of $2,000 and 11 youth performers will compete for trophies and prize packages.

Each week audience members will vote for their favorite contestants via written ballot or text message, in the five minutes following the end of the performance. For both youth and adults, the audience vote has been increased to count toward 50 percent of the final decision. During the adult competition, judges reserve the right to save one contestant each week who otherwise would not have continued in the competition. At the youth finale, only audience votes will determine first, second and third place winners.

Tickets are $15 at the door or $12 in advance. A five-week pass is $50. To watch contestants online, visit www.keeneonline.com/idol or the Keene Idol page on Facebook.

This event is a fundraiser for AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region. Non-perishable food items will be collected for The Community Kitchen each week.
