Walk for Animals was a huge hit
To the editor:
On behalf of Monadnock Humane Society, we would like to thank everyone involved in making our 25th Annual Walk for Animals (held on June 22) a resounding success. Big, heartfelt thanks to our walkers, business sponsors, donors, staff, volunteers, the city of Keene, the Dillant-Hopkins Airport officials, the town of Swanzey, and everyone who contributed — we were able to raise $31,000, and to also raise a greater awareness of the work MHS does to save the lives of our homeless animals, and to fostering a compassionate community.
Over 150 animal lovers walked with (and some without) their dogs to show their support. Thirty volunteers/staff helped with setting up, running, and taking down everything. The Dillant-Hopkins Airport provided the perfect location. We would like to give special thanks to City Officials Ed Mattern, Aaron Costa, Mike Moriarty, Donna Hanscom and Terri Hood. We would also like to thank The Setbacks band for performing, and Taylor Morris for helping us. Thanks also to Victoria Barlow and Rick Lewis for bringing Bright, Jesse and James – the Swanzey Oxen.
We are grateful to the business sponsors who gave so generously of their resources. By donating the needed cash, services, and products they made it possible for all donations collected by walkers to go directly to the care of the animals. Our lead event sponsors were One Stop Country Pet Supply, Subaru of Keene, The Mountain, W.S. Badger, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Douglas Cuddle Toys, K&M Events, Monadnock Radio Group, and Markem-Imaje (for a complete list of sponsors: www.monadnockhumanesociety.org).
We deeply appreciate everyone’s support and we look forward the 26th Annual Walk for Animals on Saturday, June 21st 2014!
and Bryanne Kingsbury
