Peterborough

Two authors at  Toadstool this week

Two authors will be at the Toadstool Bookshop to discuss and sign their new books this week.

On Saturday at 2 p.m., Dean Westover will talk about his book, “Final Approach.” Westover grew up in Peterborough, and was raised on a farm by his grandparents where the dream to fly overwhelmed him. In 1954, at the age of 18, he took his first solo flight in a Piper Cub at Silver Ranch Airport in Jaffrey. The book is an account of his 20 years of flying.

On Tuesday at 4 p.m., Dr. Robert Svoboda will introduce his latest book, “Vastu: Breathing Life into Space.” Svoboda is the first westerner to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and is licensed to practice this classical medicine in India. He has written extensively on the subject. In this new book he takes on Vastu, the classical Indian art of architectural form.

Svoboda will offer a discussion about houses, interior spaces, gardens, and relationship to the land.

Both events are free and open to the public.
