New England Ravens honored by NH Fisher Cats
The New England Ravens 14U AAU baseball team was honored by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday after finishing runner-up in the 14U Gold Division at the AAU National Championships in Fort Myers, Fla. last month. It was the second time the team had been recognized by the Toronto Blue Jays AA affiliate in Manchester, with the first coming as a send off prior to their trip to the nationals. The Ravens saw its national championship bid come up just a little short on July 25 when they fell to the Virginia Forest Flames 3-2 in nine innings in the title contest. After going 1-3 in the opening round of pool play to land in the Gold Division, the Ravens were 2-0 in Gold pool play and earned the No. 1 seed for the six-team, single elimination bracket. Following a first round bye, they defeated the Florida 3H Spartans 5-2 in the semifinals to advance to the national finals. During their week in Florida, the Ravens were 4-4 overall. For the season, the 14U squad made up of players from NH and Massachusetts, finished 49-9 after beginning play in April. They won the Bobcat Invitational in April and the inaugural Ravens Bash Invitational in June. To start the season, the Ravens won 19 straight games and finished 11-1 and the top team in the New England AAU Open Division III. From left: Chance Kirby, Danny Allen, J.P.
