Local farm supper to be held Wednesday

The Peterborough Agricultural Commission will be holding a farm dinner at the Old Freemont Farm on Wednesday.

For the first time, the menu will be all vegetarian. The local, seasonal menu prepared by chef Sam Rule will include Peterborough-made mozzarella, coupled with olives and dressed with balsamic; summer rolls with pickled carrot slaw and cilantro mint sauce; cool tomato garlic soup and a main course that includes local chevre polenta with smoky eggplant sauce. Dessert will feature honeyed peach cobbler and fresh cream.

Tickets are $40, cash only, and are available at Rosaly’s Garden and Farmstand and Steele’s Stationers. Diners are asked to bring their own beverages.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6 p.m. with dinner being served promptly at 6:30 p.m. For more information, email

The purpose of the Agricultural Commission is to protect agricultural lands, preserve rural character, provide a voice for farmers, encourage agricultural-based businesses and activities, and provide educational opportunities for home gardeners.
