Cowboys take aim with six-shooters
The Northeast Six Shooters are holding the Northeast Regionals competition at Mead Brook Equestrian Center Sept. 27-29. Cowboy Mounted Shooting is a fast growing sport where mounted riders wearing period 19th century outfits shoot balloons from horseback, testing their speed, accuracy and control. Contestants shoot .45 caliber single-action revolvers use specially-made blanks. Riders must change guns while riding in order to engage all 10 targets.
The public is invited to observe the action on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is no charge. Mead Brook Equestrian Center is a state of the art facility. The technologically advanced barn has stalls for 24 horses on a 170 acre property with views of Mt. Monadnock. The Morton Buildings barn and arena is a post-frame building which is among the most environmentally friendly building designs available.
