Meal, flu clinic will be Sept. 19

The Jaffrey Friendly Meals for seniors will be held Sept. 19 at the VFW Post on Hathorn Road in Jaffrey. The Friendly Meal will be served at noon. The menu will include pork chops with gravy, oven roasted red potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, and strawberry chiffon for dessert.

A Nurse Is In flu vaccine clinic will be held at the meal site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vaccinations will be administered by a nurse from Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services. To receive the vaccine you need to be 18 years or older; bring your Medicare, Harvard Pilgrim, MVP or Anthem BCBS insurance card or $25 cash or check; and wear loose sleeves. The clinic is open to the public and no appointments are necessary.

This month’s Information Station will feature Diane Creeley of the Scott-Farrar Home. She will be on hand with information about their retirement community. The public is invited to stop by between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to learn more about the services they offer.

The Friendly Meals is open to senior citizens (60-plus) from any area town. There is no charge for Friendly Meals, but donations are accepted. Reservations are needed by noon on Sept. 18, and can be made by calling 1-800-541-4145 or 352-2253.
