Wellness Festival will be downtown Saturday

The Monadnock Rotary Club will present its 8th Annual Monadnock Wellness Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This year’s festival will feature health screenings, fitness activities, a farmers market, a Pet Fest, and the ever popular SoupFest.

Things kick off at 8:30 a.m. with the ConVal 5K Walk for Wellness starting in Putnam Park. The other activities take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The HealthFest will feature more than 30 exhibitors inside Town Hall. Health screenings will be held across the street at HCS offices (45 Main Street), and include free flu shots, hearing screening, germscans, blood pressure, and blood sugar analysis .

A farmers market will be found along Grove Street, along with the Red Cross Bloodmobile. The PetFest activities will take place in Putnam Park and feature pet agility and behavior demonstrations.

New this year is a FitnessFest, to be located in Putnam Park. It will feature Yoga, Zumba, aerobics, and Pilates mini-classes, led by certified trainers. A rock climbing wall will challenge the young, and perhaps the old.

Proceeds from the Wellness Festival will be donated to local nonprofit organizations promoting health and wellness, such as the Healthy Teeth to Toes Program of Monadnock Community Hospital, and HCS, and to others.

The Monadnock Rotary Club, based in Dublin, is dedicated to community service. The club’s primary interests are health advocacy and youth development in the Monadnock region and around the world.
