ConVal wins 3 straight
Cougars entered this week at 4-2
The ConVal girls volleyball team won all three of its matches last week to improve to 4-2 overall.
After defeating Wilton-Lyndeborough last Monday to reach .500, the Cougars defeated Hillsboro-Deering 3-1 on Wednesday and swept Mascoma 3-0 on Friday.
“Things are going great and it’s hard not to get excited about it,” said coach Jenn Merrill.
The first two wins came after dropping the first game of the match, but ConVal finally won the opening game on Friday and completed its first straight set victory.
“Playing this well early in the season is really nice to see,” said Merrill.
The win over Hillsboro-Deering set a program record for wins in a season, while the victory over the Royals increased the new total to four. The Cougars defeated Mascoma 25-18, 25-14 and 25-20, while they won games of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-16 over the Hillcats on Wednesday after losing the first game 25-23.
Entering Monday’s match-up with Mascenic, ConVal stood in a tie for eighth in Division III.
“It’s really exciting to know how great our chances are to make playoffs,” said Merrill. “And it’s hard not to get excited about it.”
ConVal hosts Sunapee on Friday.
