N.H. craftsmen holds 26th annual exhibit on Oct. 4
The Gallery at the Craft Center and League of N.H. Craftsmen headquarters will present the 26th Members’ Juried Exhibition from Oct. 4 through Dec. 11.
An opening reception will be held Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. with an awards presentation at 6 p.m.
The League of N.H. Craftsmen represents excellence in fine craft through the work of its juried members, and its rigorous standards for self-expression, vision, and quality craftsmanship. Many of the League’s supporting members are also talented artisans and this exhibition gives them, as well as juried members, an opportunity to showcase their work to the public.
Both juried and supporting members of the League were invited to enter this exhibition and a panel reviewed all submissions and selected some for competitive, juried awards. The awards juror is Gretchen Keyworth, who will review all pieces in the exhibit for excellence in each medium. Keyworth is the director emerita/former chief curator at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Mass., and a notable figure in the craft world.
Craig Altobello and Howard Hitchmough, both of Peterborough, and William Schnute of Wilton, all juried members, have been selected to have works exhibited in this show.
This exhibit will feature a wide variety of work in several media: furniture; colorful spun yarn; hooked rugs; wall hangings; a pewter centerpiece bowl; a carving knife and fork in a marquetry box; a life-sized, needle-felted monkey; a beaded purse in the Abenaki tradition; jewelry; a hand-smocked child’s dress; prints; and a wide variety of decorative and functional clay pieces.
