Weekend events focus on hearing issues

Monadnock Bible Baptist Church in Rindge will be sponsoring several meetings for the purpose of making people more aware of deaf people in our area and improving their communication with the deaf, through American Sign Language.

The organization is reaching out to those considered deaf or hard of hearing to invite them to a meeting. The meetings will be led by Jim and Terry Bracelin of Silent Word Ministries, Spring City, Pa.

Meetings wills be held on the following dates:

Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.: This meeting will focus sign language instruction for the hearing and an introduction to reaching the deaf in our area. Come with names, addresses or locations of any deaf people you are aware of.

Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: This meeting will focus on the deaf but hearing folks are welcome and especially those who would like to improve their ASL skills. There will be teaching, games and activities, followed by lunch and fellowship from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for all those attending.

Sunday: 9:30 a.m. will be a Sunday School with interpretation for the deaf, and at 10:30 is a preaching service.
