Scarecrows come to life Oct. 12

TEAM Jaffrey’s signature event, Scarecrows on the Common, is returning to Jaffrey’s Main Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Join neighbors and friends in the center of downtown Jaffrey. Cost for the “crows” is $5 each and they will live on the streets of Jaffrey for two weeks following the event. There will be games for young and old, hayrides, a pie-eating contest, and music on the bandstand, food concessions, children’s art, face painting, raffle prizes, bake sales and more.

Scarecrows on the Common was first held by TEAM Jaffrey in 2000 to bring families together in downtown Jaffrey to enjoy the fall season. Approximately 300 scarecrows are built every year. Ribbons for first, second and third place will be awarded in three categories: family, business and nonprofit.

For more information about the event and how to participate, call 532-7168 or visit www.teamjaffrey.org.
