A 16-year-old Jaffrey girl was airlifted to UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a single-car crash Monday afternoon.

The driver of a Ford F150 pickup was traveling eastbound on Route 202 when she veered off the road into a tree near Goodall Road, according to Rindge Fire Chief Rick Donovan. At the time of air transport, the woman was in stable condition with head, hip and leg injuries, according to Donovan.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, though evidence from the scene suggested the driver swerved onto the dirt shoulder of the eastbound lane, over-corrected her vehicle, and left the roadway off the shoulder of the westbound lane where the front end of her vehicle collided with a tree, said Rindge Police Chief Frank Morrill. The air bags in truck did deploy, Morrill added. The driver was the only person in the vehicle, and she was belted at the time of the accident.

After being pulled from the vehicle, the girl was brought to Cathedral of the Pines, where she was airlifted by a Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team.
