Rindge Police Logs: Oct. 10, 2013
Tuesday, Oct. 1
Shoplifting: At 4:35 p.m., officers responded to Walmart for a report of shoplifting. Suzanne King, 39, Winchendon, Mass., and Heather Phillips, 27, of Winchendon, Mass., were arrested and charged with willful concealment. The two women were released on $1,000 personal recognizance each and both were issued a court date of Nov. 6 at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Deer Accident: At 9:51 p.m., officers responded to a single car accident on Route 202 by West Main Street. Mark Derby, 41, of Hooksett, who was driving a 2007 Saab 93, struck a deer that ran into the road. The Saab sustained minor damage, and the deer ran off into the woods. No injuries were reported.
Arrest: At 10:17 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for a headlight out. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the driver, Brett Starrett, 23, of Templeton, Mass., had defective equipment in his vehicle and did not have a valid registration. Police also found a bag of controlled drugs believed to be marijuana. Starrett was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug, transportation of a controlled drug, operating without vehicle registration, and operating with defective equipment. Starrett was released on $2,000 personal recognizance and issued a court date of Nov. 6 at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Break-in: At 10:45 p.m., officers were called to Dunkin Donut’s on Sonja Drive after a report of a break-in. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the right front glass door smashed in. Evidence suggests that someone got inside the building but did not take anything. The case is still under investigation.
Saturday, Oct. 5
DWI: At 11:57 p.m., police responded to a car crash on Cathedral Road by the intersection of Hubbard Pond Road. The driver, Mark Kersbergen, 58, of Rindge, was driving southbound in a pickup truck with one passenger when he allegedly failed to negotiate a curve and drove into the woods. Upon arriving at the scene, police arrested and charged Kersbergen with aggravated DWI. Kersbergen was released on $1,500 personal recognizance and issued an Oct. 15 date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Sunday, Oct. 6
Possession: At 10:30 p.m., police responded to a rescue call at Franklin Pierce University. At the scene, police found Christelle Cherubin, 18, of Hamilton Square, N.J., and transported her to Monadnock Community Hospital for alcohol poisoning. Cherubin will be issued a must-appear summons for internal possession of alcohol and will have a Nov. 6 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
Monday, Oct. 7
Accident and arrest: At 2:30 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 119. Joel Marrott, 19, of Rindge was driving a 1998 Toyota Celica westbound when he slowed down to turn onto Pearly Pond Road. Robert Henderson, 68, of Rindge, was traveling in a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup when he rear-ended the Celica and caused Marott to spin out. Marott was seat-belted and uninjured, and it is not known if Henderson was belted, but he was also uninjured. Both vehicles sustained damage from the accident, and the Dakota was towed from the scene. Henderson was then arrested and charged with aggravated DWI. Henderson was released on $1,500 personal recognizance and was issued a court date of Oct. 21 at the 8th District Court, Jaffrey. Henderson was released to a friend.
Shoplifting: At 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of theft at Walmart. Police arrested and charged Dena Whitney, 23, of Gardner, Mass., with willful concealment of $29.73 worth of merchandise. Whitney was released on a summons and was issued a Dec. 4 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.
