Court drops sexual assault case, for now
JAFFREY — Charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault and criminal restraint filed against a 53-year-old Peterborough man were not carried forward in 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey, last week.
John F. Fortin of Peterborough had been arrested in August by Peterborough police and charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of criminal restraint.
Police alleged that Fortin had engaged in sexual activity with a minor on more than one occasion between September 2011 and May 2012.
Fortin had been released on $100,000 personal recognizance.
On Friday, Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said the ruling at the Circuit Court-level was a procedural matter.
“The case has not been closed,” Guinard said.
