Wednesday, Oct. 9

Burglary: At 3:42 p.m., police responded to reports of a burglary at a residence on Fitzwilliam Road. Robert Kadlec, 49, of Jaffrey, suffered “loss that is extensive,” according to police. Missing items include four laptops, an external hard drive, multiple pieces of jewelry, and prescription medications. This case is still under investigation.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Hit and run: At 8:45 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run accident at My Heart Leaps Up Dance Center on Peterborough Street. A 2005 Dodge Neon belonging to Jessica Baranowski, 22, of Jaffrey was discovered with very minor damage to its rear bumper, with scuff marks on the right side. Police have a suspect vehicle, and the case is currently under investigation.

Friday, Oct. 11

Possession: At 12:48 a.m., police were doing a business check on Squantum Road when they noticed a car parked next to the concession stand at the town beach. Upon approaching the car, an officer noticed a distinct odor of marijuana coming from the inside. The driver, Kaci West, 18, of Dover, presented a quantity of a controlled drug believed to be marijuana to the officer. West was then arrested and charged for possession of controlled drug. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and issued a Nov. 7 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.

Theft: At 6:10 p.m., police were on a routine check in the Benevolent Plaza on Peterborough Street when they were approached by a Nutting Road resident. Aiden Peard, 18, of Jaffrey, reported that someone stole a jar of change from his 2006 Chevy pickup the previous night. Peard said the car was in his driveway and was unlocked when it was allegedly broken into. This case is under investigation.

Deer vs. car: At 6:35 p.m., police received a report of a car accident on Fitzwilliam Road. The driver, Calvin Goddard, 30, of Fitzwilliam, was traveling in his 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser when a deer ran into the road. The car had minimal damage, though due to the injuries of the deer, it had to be killed. The animal was released to Goddard’s friend, and Fish and Game were notified.

Saturday, Oct. 12

Arrest for DWI: At 12:35 a.m., police stopped a car on Squantum Road for speed. The driver, Timothy Hattie, 36, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with DWI. Hattie was released to custody of his mother on $1,000 personal recognizance, and he was issued a Nov. 7 court date at 8th District Court, Jaffrey.

Theft: At 9 a.m., police received a report of theft at Forest Park. Andrew Broderick, 54, of Jaffrey came to the police department to report that someone had gone through his 1996 Chevy Blazer overnight and removed some personal items, including his employee ID card, driver’s license, and bank debit card. Broderick had already taken steps to cancel his debit card. This case is still under investigation.

Monday, Oct. 14

Runaway: At 1:18 p.m., police received a call from the Nashua Police Department regarding a 17 year old juvenile runaway who was allegedly staying with a Jaffrey resident. Officers located the juvenile at the North Street residence, where he was taken into police custody. He was later released to his family.
