Lots to crow about
To the editor:
The Promotions Committee and Board of Directors of Team Jaffrey would like to express a sincere thank you to all who helped to make the 2013 Scarecrows on the Common event a great success. Despite the rainy weather, the regional event drew visitors from 17 towns in NH, 10 towns in Massachusetts, as well as Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island to enjoy a wonderful family event and all that downtown Jaffrey has to offer.
We would like to thank New England Wood Pellet for providing the sponsorship that allows TEAM Jaffrey to bring Scarecrows to town year after year. We also thank Belletete’s for providing the wood for all the crossbars. Thank you to the Jaffrey Rindge Rotary Club, who were the Hay Pit sponsors again this year for their generosity and volunteers. To Boy Scout Troop #33, with Andy and Ruth Webber, for building the wooden crossbars. To our donors and partners McDonald’s of Jaffrey; the Town of Jaffrey DPW, Library and Recreation Dept.; Atlas Fireworks; Monadnock Disposal; Rousseau’s Music & Lessons, Listening Room Productions, Fine Cuts Barber Shop, Hannaford, Walmart and Alan Morris and Lee Sawyer for the hayrides; and thank you to all the Jaffrey businesses who participated.
Special thanks to the amazing group of volunteers who helped with registration, concession and children’s events; especially the students from Conant High School Nationals Honor Society and Interact Club. As well as the musicians who donated their time to provide wonderful music throughout the day including Friendly Folk (Jeanne Sable and Hal Pederson), Linda Markey, Owen Lodge, Rick Beausoleil, Ken Durand and Dan Durand, Decatur Creek (Doug Farrell, Steve Dionne and Jack Carlton) and Tim Cardiello.
