Man faces child porn charges
A 35-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with possession of child pornography after a four-month investigation.
Peterborough police arrested Matthew A. Cummings, 35, on Thursday, charging him with 13 counts of child pornography, a Class A felony, and two counts of prohibited use of computer services. He was held on $100,000 cash bail pending arraignment in 8th Circuit Court.
Police said an investigation began in June after an acquaintance of Cummings reported seeing numerous pictures of naked children on Cummings’ cell phone. Police obtained a search warrant and Sgt. Richard Nelson, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, seized several pieces of evidence, including pictures and messages between Cummings and the alleged victims.
Police said two of the alleged victims have been identified. Neither is from New Hampshire. One is 15 years old and the other is 17. Police said Cummings could face additional charges because he allegedly sent pornographic images of himself to juveniles.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact Peterborough police Sgt. Michael Chapdelaine at 924-8052.
