Man, 18, faces charge for child solicitation

GREENFIELD — An 18-year-old New Ipswich man is being charged with endangering the welfare of a child, following an investigation into an incident in Greenfield in June.

Kyle Somero, 18, of New Ipswich was indicted by a Hillsborough County Grand Jury in September. According to the indictment, Somero allegedly solicited a girl under the age of 16 to have sex “by asking [her] if she wanted to go have some fun, or words to that effect, while motioning towards a cabin.”

Greenfield Police Chief Brian Giammarino said Tuesday that the alleged proposition was made by Somero to a 12-year-old girl, who later told her mother. The mother contacted Greenfield police, who opened an investigation and sent information to the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office, which led to the indictment. n indictment is not a determination of guilt or innocence. It is a decision that enough evidence exists for a case to go to trial.

A bail hearing was held for Somero on Wednesday. Information on that hearing was not available prior to press deadline.
