Senior dinner set for Dec. 10
PETERBOROUGH — For many older residents of the region, a highlight of the holiday season is the Friends of the Seniors dinner, a traditional noontime holiday meal with turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. The meal is free to seniors, sponsored entirely by members of the community and a number of civic organizations.
“We’ve been putting these dinners on for 20 years now,” said Ernie Belletete, a Peterborough Police Department officer who has been a longtime organizer of the event. “It’s great food and people really enjoy being together. This year we’ll have the [South Meadow] middle school chorus there to sing. It will be fun.”
This year’s event will be held on Dec. 10 at the Monadnock Country Club, starting at noon.
Belletete said reservations are strongly encouraged, because space is limited to the first 120 seniors who sign up. Reservations can be made by calling the Monadnock Adult Care office in Jaffrey at 532-2427.
