Temple driver uninjured in 101 crash that kills Merrimack man

A Temple man was uninjured in a crash Wednesday morning on Route 101 in Milford, in which the driver of a second vehicle, a Merrimack man, died, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Milford Police Department.

Police have identified the deceased as Eric M. L’Ecuyer, 29.

Richard A Benotti, 78, of Temple was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pick-up truck east on Route 101, east of the Perry Road overpass, when police say a 2006 Toyota Highlander, headed west, crossed over the centerline into the path of Benotti’s Chevrolet.

“The Highlander was struck on the passenger side, and both vehicles came to rest off the roadway on the eastbound side of Route 101. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be contributing factors. Police had Route 101 in the area of this crash shut down to one lane of traffic for approximately four hours while they investigated,” the Milford police press release states.

Police say Benotti was uninjured; L’Ecuyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Milford Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident. Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call the Milford Police Department at 249-0630.
