Recycling saved $11,840 last month
Peterborough and Sharon residents have recycled at total of 63.45 tons through the Peterborough Recycling Center.
By category and by tons, the recycled materials include newspaper (4.48 tons), cardboard (8.4), mixed paper (16.38), plastics (2.31), aluminum cans (0.2), steel cans (1.32), food waste (1.38), glass (21), textiles (4.96) and electronics (1.78).
By recycling a total of 63.45 tons, residents avoided paying $6,916.05 in disposal fees in November. Plus the effort generated $4,924.14 in revenue for the month for a total savings of $11,840.19.
The Peterborough recycling Center will be closed on Jan. 1.
Holiday Reminders: At this time all holiday gift wrapping paper is not recyclable and must go into the trash.
