Orthodontist planning expansion
PETERBOROUGH — A Peterborough orthodontist will not need a special exception from the Zoning Board of Adjustment prior to going to the Planning Board for approval to expand his office, according to a ruling by Code Enforcement Officer Dario Carrara.
Rogers Engineering Solutions of New Ipswich had applied, on behalf of Dr. Paras Gosalia, for a special exception to build a 1,470 square foot addition to the Monadnock Orthodontics office on Route 202 near ConVal High School. The building has been a orthodontist’s office since 1973, when the ZBA approved a request by Dr. Francis Khouw to have a practice at the location.
Gosalia’s special exception request was withdraw after Carrara issued an administrative decision stating that the proposed expansion of the current nonconforming use was a “natural but limited expansion and does not violate the zoning ordinance.” Carrara noted that the expansion would not result in a substantially different effect on the neighborhood and that the expansion will still require site plan review by the Planning Board.
Any abutters have 30 days to appeal the administrative decision.
